Atutudes in the 2012 GBK Oscars Celebrity Luxury Gift Lounge
I am beyond excited to share this {AMAZING} feature + Etsy shop spotlight with you today from Atutudes. I contacted Kristal from Atutudes as soon as I came across her adorable designs on etsy and knew right away that they'd be a great fit for our site and our followers. Kristal was equally as excited to share some exciting news on how her business was going to be a part of the upcoming 2012 GBK Productions Oscars Celebrity Luxury Gift Lounge on February 24th and 25th - an event SO special that they even created a Tiny Tuxedo Tutu for the event that will be on display.
I'm going to turn the blog over to Kristal so you can get a first-hand look at the inspiration behind her business Atutudes:
{My best friend, Jennifer, and I were planning her daughter Elan's first birthday party. We were looking for just the right outfit for her big day. Not finding what we were looking for, we decided to do some research and see if we could learn how to make our own tutus. Once we learned how to make them, we were hooked! It was so much fun to create beautiful things. We thought, Why not try to make a career of it? We started out at a local Flea Market to do a test run. It was a low cost way to see if there was a market for them. Everyone that passed by loved them. We knew it was not the ideal market for us so we began to look for other outlets. I was reading Martha Stewart Living one day and spotted an article on ETSY. I opened the shop up in September 2009 but did not upload any products. Jennifer was pregnant so it made it difficult to get to the flea market and sit out in the cold all weekend. I decided in December 2009 to ulpoad a few items. I sold one that December and steadily worked to get our name out there. I made a facebook fan page. I heard about Twitter so I opened an account. I took an online class that spring from SARK called Dream Boogie. While there I met a lovely woman named Dee who owns Craft Bliss. She suggested I become a member of Martha Stewart's Dreamers Into Doers Community. I signed up and met so many lovely entrepreneurs like myself. It was such a supportive and nurturing environment. While there, I befriended Nikki Cuttro of Black Cat Designs. Little did I know that she also was involved with a great company called The Artisan Group. Nikki e-mailed me and asked me if I would like to get my tutus in the hands of celebrities with The Artisan Group. I cried when I read the e-mail. I had wanted to do that somehow but knew that I could never afford to book a spot on my own. The Artisan Group is a collective of artisans who all join together to split the costs associated with participating in the celebrity gift lounges. It has been the most wonderful experience. I participated in the 2011 GBK Productions Primetime Emmy Awards Celebrity Luxury Gift Lounge, The 2012 GBK Productions Golden Globes Celebrity Luxury Gift Lounge, and will be participating in the upcoming 2012 GBK Productions Oscars Celebrity Luxury Gift Lounge on February 24th and 25th.}
What an AMAZING and inspiring story! We are so honored to have the opportunity to feature Atutudes in the Baby Shopping Guide of Best Baby Sites and also to share some more of Kristals designs with you:
{The Pink Poodle} {Breakfast at Tiffany's Tutu Dress}
Even celebrities like Maria Canals Barrera from Wizards of Waverly Place and Garret Morris of Saturday Night Live, The Jamie Foxx Show and Two Broke Girls took time to pose with the Pretty Peacock Tutu Dress.
We'd like to take this opportunity to wish Kristal the best of luck this weekend with her showcase at the 2012 GBK Productions Oscars Celebrity Luxury Gift Lounge and invite you to follow Atutudes at their Etsy Shop, on Twitter and on Facebook.
